BTFEC Observes Zero Waste Hour

The Bhutan Trust Fund for Environmental Conservation observed “Zero Waste Hour” today from 4-5 pm. Led by its Officiating Director, Ugyen Lhendup, the staff cleaned and collected waste within and around the office premises.

Bhutan observes at least an hour on the second day of every month as the “Zero Waste Hour” to achieve Bhutan’s vision of Zero Waste Society by 2030.

The National Environment Commission’s campaign “my waste, my responsibility”, which was launched by Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen on 2 June 2019, coinciding with the Coronation Day of His Majesty The Fourth Druk Gyalpo, is expected to instil a behavioural change for proper waste management and practice sustainable consumption lifestyle.
