“From classrooms to clean-ups, youth are leading the way in conservation.”
The Bhutan Trust Fund for Environmental Conservation (BTF), led by Managing Director Dr. Karma Tshering, and Dagana Dzongkhag team led by Dasho Dzongda, in collaboration with Tsangkha Middle Secondary School, observed the World Environment Day 2025 with the theme “Beat Plastic Pollution,” on 5th June, 2025. The event was also attended by local government officials of the three gewogs of Lajab, Tsangkha and Drukjaygang under Dagana Dzongkhag.
The day prior, the school authorities conducted art and essay competitions amongst various classes (four categories) on the theme of the World Environment Day. The winners were awarded environmentally friendly prize items supported by the Trust Fund. All the participants joined a garbage collection drive around Tsangkha Lake, reinforcing the role of youth in environmental stewardship.
