On 2nd June 2025, the BTF Management Team, led by the Managing Director, visited project sites in Tsirang and Dagana to witness firsthand the progress of the “Adaptation to Climate-Induced Water Stress through Integrated Landscape Management in Bhutan” project, funded by the Adaptation Fund.
The team engaged with District and Gewog Administration Officials, local leaders, field engineers, and community members who are at the heart of designing, implementing, and monitoring these vital climate adaptation activities.
Futhermore, a field visit was conducted to oversee the implementation and functionality of the Rural Water Supply Scheme, sustainable land management activities, as well as to inspect the two newly constructed 250 cubic meters reservoir tanks located in Phuentenchu and Tsirangtoe Gewogs.
As part of the initiative to improve agricultural water management, a pressurized (closed) irrigation system was also constructed in Lajab Gewog, along with the re-engineering and rehabilitation of two existing irrigation systems in Drukjeygang and Tsangkha Gewogs under Dagana Dzongkhag.
This five-year project (30th May 2023 - 28th May 2028) is being implemented in 13 Gewogs across Dagana, Tsirang, and Paro Districts, identified as priority areas under the 12th Five-Year Plan’s “Water Flagship Program.”
Together, we’re tackling climate-induced water stress through integrated landscape management, ensuring communities are better prepared to face the challenges of a changing climate.
